I'm not done/

I’m not done is a project instigated by conversations between Kathrin Bonnar and Cherelle Sappleton. The exhibitions and events developed from the project look curiously at the process of art making - thinking about decision making processes, identity and authorship, and ask artists to exhibit work and concepts un-resolved to themselves. Spaces are used as open and encouraging test beds for activity, exploring notions of the unresolved in its broadest sense.

I’m not done/1 took place at Islington Arts Factory, London in October 2014 and included 11 emerging artists.

Chat/1 was an event set up by Kathrin Bonnar and took place on 7th May 2015, in The Archive Space, The Rose Lipman Building, London. Here Kathrin Bonnar, Matthew Edwards, Patricia Pisanelli and Cherelle Sappleton presented and discussed their work in progress for I’m not done/2.

I’m not done/2 took place at Yinka Shonibare’s Guest Projects in September 2015 and was an exhibition/workspace that developed over the duration of the show. For more information and updates of any forthcoming and past exhibitions, events and workshops see our blog,  events and exhibitions pages.

Artists' Biographies

Kathrin Bonnar is an artist who explores the concepts and processes running throughout her work both alone, and with other people - through setting up events. Her practice often starts from thoughts inclusive of garments as she attempts to embody and represent less obvious, hidden, unseen and in-between elements of a garments existence. After studying part of the course MA Fashion Curation at London College of Fashion, she found that her practice sits closer to art making - yet still aligns elements of her process with conversations surrounding the discipline of curating/exhibiting dress.

Cherelle Sappleton is a visual artist of Afro-Caribbean descent, working and living in London, England. She initially started out with a performative practice whilst studying Fine Arts and Drama jointly at Bath Spa School of Art. However, after graduating, and taking a break for four years, she focused her practice on photographic media and image making whilst undertaking postgraduate study. Firstly studying a postgraduate diploma in Fine Art at Byam Shaw School of Art and then an MA Fine Art at Central St Martins College of Art and Design, which she completed in June 2013.
